Brass Quartet
Established in October 1999, the United States Navy Band Brass Quartet has reached thousands of people of all ages through the performance of public concerts and Music in the Schools programs at Washington area recital halls, churches and schools. Led by Chief Musician John P. Schroeder, the quartet includes Chief Musician Stanley H. Curtis and Musicians 1st Class Philip J. Eberly and Anthony J. Halloin. The group has performed for national audiences on three live broadcasts from the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage and has made three appearances on NBC's "Meet the Press." The quartet has given masterclasses at the Midwest Clinic in Chicago, the Navy School of Music in Little Creek, Va., and St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.
In addition to these public performances, the Brass Quartet has provided musical support at official ceremonies at the Pentagon, Navy Memorial, Naval Observatory, Naval National Medical Center, State Department, National Defense University and Women In Military Service For America Memorial. These ceremonies are frequently attended by the secretary of the Navy and chief of naval operations.
Since its formation, the quartet has generated a unique repertoire of arrangements, transcriptions and original compositions encompassing diverse styles that represent American patriotic and folkloric musical traditions as well as traditional light classics.
