Autonomous Language Sustainment (ALS)

Autonomous Language Sustainment (ALS) focuses on the development of independent learners.

Language Enhancement After DLI (LEAD):

ALS offers a 4-hour post DLPT seminar called Language Enhancement after DLI that is designed to help DLI graduates make the transition from classroom learning to field-based learning. LEAD objectives include:

  • Helping DLI graduates become more effective self-directed language learners in the field.
  • Training, supporting, and encouraging DLI graduates to enhance their foreign language proficiency in the field.
  • Raising awareness about the importance of proficiency maintenance as members of the intelligence field.
  • Informing graduates about resources available in the field such as the Command Language Program, SCOLA, Lingnet, etc.

Online Resource Seminars:

ALS also offers 1-hour workshops about online resources that are available for independent language proficiency development. Workshops are delivered in English, but are focused on target-language development.

  • Developing Proficiency through Web-Based Resources for 3rd Semester Students
