The Japan District Superintendent’s Office announces selection of new Assistant Principal for Yokosuka Middle School.

The Japan District Superintendent’s Office is pleased to announce the selection of Ms. Rachel Geesa as the new Assistant Principal of Yokosuka Middle School in Yokosuka, Japan. Ms. Geesa has been an educator for the past seven years, having taught in Indiana before joining DoDEA. For the past four years, Ms. Geesa has served as an art, AVID, and humanities teacher at Seoul American Middle School in South Korea. During her tenure with DoDEA, Ms. Geesa has been an active participant in the school improvement process and has served in multiple leadership capacities to include CSI co-chair, fine arts department chair, school vision and profile chair, QAR team member, and student activities sponsor.

Ms. Geesa earned a bachelor’s degree in art education, art history, fine arts, and photography from Purdue University and a master’s degree in art education from Indiana University. In addition, she earned a master’s degree in educational psychology and an education specialist degree in school superintendency from Ball State University. She is near completion of a doctorate from Ball State University and is currently working on her dissertation that focuses on comparative education and the influence of family values in student achievement. Ms. Geesa is excited to begin building collaborative partnerships with teachers, students, parents, administrators, and community members in her new position.
