Captain Finton's Biography
Captain Stephan P. Finton assumed the duties of Director of Admissions in March 2010. Prior to that, he served as Chief, Resource Management Division and was a plank owner of the Force Readiness Command in Alameda, California.

His other assignments included USCGC Midgett (WHEC 726); Pacific Area Operations (Poc); USCGC Point Brower (WPB 82372), CGRU PACAREA Vessel Augmentation, and CGRU MSO San Francisco – as a Reservist; Pacific Area Operations (Pof); and Supervisor, Work-Life Staff – all in Alameda, California. In 1996, he assumed the duties of Comptroller, ISC Cleveland, Ohio followed by another tour as Comptroller, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, New London, Connecticut. In July 2004, he served as Executive Officer of the Coast Guard’s largest training center in Yorktown, Virginia. In 2006, he assumed the duties as Chief of Finance, Coast Guard Maintenance and Logistics Command Pacific, Alameda, California.

Captain Finton graduated in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science in Management from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. In 1995, he earned a Master of Business degree from John F. Kennedy University in Walnut Creek, California.

His personal awards include two Meritorious Service Medals, four Commendation Medals, two Achievement Medals, a Commandant’s Letter of Commendation ribbon, and the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.
