Lieutenant Commander Walsh earned a B.S. (with Honors) in Electrical Engineering from the Coast Guard Academy in 1999. After graduation, he served as Student Engineering Officer aboard USCGC Munro (WHEC 724) in Alameda, California. Assigned in 2001 to Navy Flight Training in Pensacola, Florida, he was trained in fixed and rotary wing aircraft. After earning his aviator’s wings in 2002, LCDR Walsh was trained in the operation of the HH-60J helicopter and subsequently assigned to Coast Guard Airstation Clearwater, Florida. For four years, he flew missions supporting Search and Rescue and Law Enforcement, earning the rank of Aircraft Commander. Following graduate school education, LCDR Walsh joined the faculty of USCGA in 2008.
