After graduating from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in 1998, LCDR Jones completed a tour as the Assistant Engineering Officer and Damage Control Assistant on the USCGC Acushnet out of Ketchikan, Alaska. He was then selected for flight training at NAS Pensacola where he earned his designation as a Naval Aviator in single engine and rotary aircraft. In 2002, he reported to Air Station North Bend, Oregon where he completed qualifications for Aircraft Commander of the HH-65 Dolphin Helicopter. From 2006 to 2010, he conducted missions in Search and Rescue Homeland Security as an Instructor Pilot at CGAS Traverse City, Michigan. Following his tour in Michigan he reported to the Yale University where he earned a M.S. in Engineering and Applied Science, with a concentration in Applied Physics.
