Health and Physical Education Mission
The mission of the Department of Health and Physical Education (HPE) is to graduate leaders of character who also possess the knowledge, skills, and physical fitness necessary to meet the physical rigors of a career in the Coast Guard. Cadets are required to complete health or physical education courses each year as part of the total curriculum and to maintain a high degree of general physical fitness. The HPE Department also contributes to physical training during Swab Summer, preparing swabs for the physical demands of cadet life.
