Accreditation is the means of self-regulation and peer review adopted by
the educational community. The accrediting process is intended to strengthen and sustain the quality and integrity of higher education, making it worthy of public confidence and
minimizing the scope of external control.

Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (MSA)
Middle States accreditation is an expression of confidence in an institution’s mission and goals, its performance, and its resources. The JFSC earns civilian accreditation through the National Defense University, which is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (3624 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104, Telephone number: 267-284-5000). NDU received its initial accreditation on February 1997, and was most recently reaccredited in 2007.

Process for Accreditation of Joint Education (PAJE)
In addition to the MSA accreditation, the JFSC is also accredited by the Department of Defense through the Process for Accreditation of Joint Education (PAJE) from the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The PAJE is guided by accepted civilian accreditation standards and practices tailored to the needs of the Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) system. Each of our JPME schools has been accredited for six years, the maximum period authorized.

Virginia Tidewater Consortium (VTC)
JFSC has been a member of the Virginia Tidewater Consortium for Higher Education since 1995. The VTC consists of 13 local institutions of higher learning, including the College of William and Mary, Old Dominion University, Christopher Newport University, Norfolk State University and Regent University, among others. The colleges and universities of the VTC strive to offer as many educational programs as possible to meet the needs of the residents of Greater Hampton Roads.
