When an issue arises in U.S. European Command’s region, assessing the situation is hardly handled in a vacuum. Taking a “whole of society” approach, EUCOM addresses its regional and global issues by integrating academia, non-government organizations, international organizations, and the private sector. And it is through this collaboration that EUCOM can conduct a full spectrum of activities to secure enduring stability in Europe and the Caucasus and defend the United States forward.

EUCOM headquarters has onsite representatives from the U.S. Departments of State, Energy, Treasury and Justice, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Agency for International Development, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement  as part of its network of key Pentagon, EUCOM, interagency and external actors that work together to advance EUCOM/NATO goals. Having these diverse representatives provides important perspective to military operations in a timely fashion to shape decisions and policies.

Additionally, EUCOM conducts outreach to academia, think tanks, and private industry to communicate EUCOM positions and extend networks for leveraging good ideas, knowledge, and information into value-added products and processes. The end result is a decision-making process that incorporates a wide range of expertise and resources.

    Humanitarian Assistance/ Disaster Relief in Montenegro

    Armenia clinic opens with help from USACE, EUCOM

    TALIN, Armenia -- Members of the local medical community gathered with representatives of the U.S. and Armenian governments Sept. 2 to celebrate the opening of a polyclinic. The $220,000 renovation project, funded by the U.S. European Command and managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Europe District in cooperation with the U.S. Embassy Office of Defense Cooperation, provided a complete overhaul to the clinic's second floor.     Notable Author Series: Dr. Jim Sheehan

    Noted historian and Stanford University Professor Emeritus of Modern European History James Sheehan, visited EUCOM to discuss his book "Where Have all the Soldiers Gone?: The Transformation of Modern Europe," Dr. Sheehan asserts that, for centuries, war was Europe's defining narrative, affecting every aspect of political, social, and cultural life. He describes a post-World War II Europe as a period of redefining statehood and rejecting ballooning defense budgets in favor of material well-being, social stability, and economic growth. His analysis offers an explanation of how and why this happened, and what it means for the rest of the world. He covers the major intellectual and political events in Europe from the pacifist and militarist movements of the early twentieth century and two catastrophic world wars to the fall of the Berlin Wall and after. This authoritative history provides much-needed context for understanding the fractured era in which we live.

His lecture addressed the current political environment in Turkey and explored Turkey&#39;s role in global politics and relationship to NATO.
