The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta is dedicated to enhancing the economic and financial literacy of youth across the southeastern United States with effective educational programs and resources for educators and students in grades 6 through 12. The Atlanta Fed's workshops, onsite tours, classroom curricula, and other tools provide both teachers and students applicable classroom knowledge about the Federal Reserve System and related concepts of economics and personal finance.

Teacher workshops and events
Interdisciplinary professional development sessions give educators a better understanding of the Federal Reserve System and its role in the economy, how it affects our personal finances, and other related topics. Workshops can range in length from a half day to multi-day sessions.

Most Sixth District locations offer guided or self-guided tours, or both. Educators and students of all ages and levels gain a greater knowledge of the Federal Reserve Bank's structure, functions, and responsibilities by exploring interactive and multimedia exhibits and other areas. Lengths of tours vary from 30 minutes to two hours, depending on location and availability.

Classroom Economist, our quarterly online multimedia teaching package, features video, PowerPoint presentations and quizzes, interactive whiteboard lessons, and text materials to enhance your teaching of core economic topics. Each Classroom Economist module deals with a single core economic concept, such as inflation.

Read Extra Credit, a quarterly online newsletter for teachers featuring special articles, trends, and information on economic and personal finance topics. Issues include lesson plans and ideas for use in the classroom. You can also subscribe to future issues of Extra Credit.
Katrina's Classroom: Financial Lessons from a Hurricane is a free, DVD-based curriculum developed to teach middle and high school students and their parents the importance of being financially prepared, especially in times of crisis.
The Lessons and Activities page offers prize-winning lesson plans and practical activities designed to teach concepts of economics and personal finance to middle and high school students. The site includes links to related articles, educational standards, and data sources.
Monetary Policy: Part Art, Part Science, a free video-based series, describes how interest rates are determined. This series is part of the broader Monetary Policy curriculum, which illustrates how economic forecasting contributes to the Federal Open Market Committee's formulation of national monetary policy.
The Atlanta Fed participates in a variety of education conferences conducted by state, regional, and national education organizations. Specialists are available for breakout sessions and to host exhibit booths to teach educators about the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta and its educational resources. The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta works with school systems to conduct in-service trainings. The length of the training can be adapted to meet the needs of the school system. Specialists can visit college and university methods and practicum classes to demonstrate Federal Reserve Bank economic education lessons and share resources.
