Special Censuses are conducted at the request of local and tribal governments during the time between years 2013 to 2018. If your community has entered into an agreement with the U.S. Census Bureau to conduct a Special Census, please consider applying for a Special Census Job. Communities currently recruiting local residents for Special Census jobs are listed below. Contact your community to find out more about census jobs.
Most positions involve locating households, updating addresses, and conducting interviews with respondents. A few involve supervisory or clerical duties.
Jobs last anywhere from 2 to 8 weeks. Enumerators work flexible hours, primarily evenings and weekends when respondents are home. It is expected that all employees work a minimum of 25 hours each week and a maximum of 40. These positions do not require overtime and overtime is not authorized.
Pay rates vary by location. U.S. Citizenship is required. Employees must be 18 years of age or older. Those working in the field must have a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
