MG Mark W. Yenter

Major General Yenter was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Army Corps of Engineers in 1981 after graduating from the University of Nevada ROTC program as a Distinguished Military Graduate.

His previous commands include U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Trans Atlantic Division – Afghanistan; U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Pacific Ocean Division; 20th Engineer Brigade (Combat)(Airborne), Multi-National Corps – Iraq; 27th Engineer Battalion (Combat)(Airborne); Engineer Troop, 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment – Delta (Airborne); and Company B, 307th Engineer Battalion (Combat)(Airborne) 82d Airborne Division.

His staff assignments include Director, Joint Engineering Directorate, U.S. Forces – Afghanistan; Executive Officer to the Army G-3/5/7, Department of the Army; G-3, XVIII Airborne Corps; C7 Director of Engineering, Multi-National Corps – Iraq; Corps Engineer, XVIII Airborne Corps; CJ-7 Director and Task Force Engineer, Combined and Joint Task Force 180, Bagram, Afghanistan; Chief of Engineer Plans, HQ SFOR, Sarajevo, Bosnia; Staff Engineer, 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment – Delta (Airborne); and S-3 and Assistant Division Engineer, 307th Engineer Battalion (Combat)(Airborne), 82d Airborne Division.

Major General Yenter’s awards and decorations include the Army Distinguished Service Medal; Defense Superior Service Medal; Legion of Merit; Bronze Star Medal; Defense Meritorious Service Medal; Meritorious Service Medal; Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal; Afghan Campaign Medal; Iraq Campaign Medal; Global War on Terror Expeditionary Medal; Humanitarian Service Medal; NATO Medal; Master Parachutist Badge; Ranger Tab; Sapper Tab; Joint Meritorious Unit Award; Meritorious Unit Citation; Bronze de Fleury Medal; Belgian, Canadian, French, Australian, and German Airborne Badges.

Major General Yenter earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Nevada, Reno, and a Master of Science Degree in Water Resources Development and Management from the University of Colorado, Boulder. He is a graduate of the Army Command and General Staff College and the Naval War College where he earned a Master of Arts Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies. Major General Yenter is a registered Professional Engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Major General Yenter is married to the former Lisa Talamo, and they have two children, Lindsay and Marcus.
