The National Farmworker Jobs Program

The National Farmworker Jobs Program (NFJP) is a nationally-directed program providing employment and training services and housing assistance to migrant and seasonal farmworkers (MSFWs). Created by the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964, and currently authorized by the Workforce Investment Act of 1998, the program seeks to counter the impact of the chronic unemployment and underemployment experienced by MSFWs who depend primarily on jobs in agricultural labor. NFJP services are provided by community-based organizations and public agencies that assist MSFWs and their families attain greater economic stability.
