The U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service mission is working with others to conserve, protect, and enhance fish, wildlife, and plants, and their habitats for the continuing benefit of the American people. The Yreka Fish and Wildlife Office (Yreka FWO) is one of four U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service offices that work to protect and restore healthy populations of fish and wildlife and their habitats in the Klamath River Basin. These offices are the Arcata Fish and Wildlife Office, the Klamath Falls Fish and Wildlife Office and the Klamath Basin National Wildlife Refuge Complex.
Public Meetings on Proposed Northern Spotted Owl Critical Habitat The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will host a series of Public Information Meetings on the proposed Critical Habitat Designation for the Northern Spotted Owl. Dates and locations are listed below. There will also be one Public Hearing, to be held in Portland, Oregon. (See below.) Meeting Format : At the Public Information Meetings, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service staff will field questions and provide information on a variety of spotted owl critical habitat and conservation issues. There will also be the opportunity to submit written comments on the critical habitat proposal, but formal oral testimony will not be taken. At the Public Hearing, there is not an opportunity for questions and answers, but oral testimony will be taken and recorded by a hearing officer; comments can also be submitted in writing.
