Training and Educational Opportunities
The Pacific Northwest Region (PNR) staff offer classes and other educational opportunities to both network members and other organizations. These further our mission to promote awareness of and access to health and biomedical information. PNR staff also encourage network members to use these resources when providing training to others.

National Library of Medicine National Training Center
The National Library of Medicine National Training Center (NTC) offers scheduled classes in PubMed and TOXNET. Their class schedule is also listed by region.NN/LM PNR Professional Development Library
Pacific Northwest Region staff maintain a library of professional development resources for network members to borrow. The library includes audio and video tapes, CDs, books and Medical Library Association DocKits.

Clearinghouse materials may include classes, online tutorials, handouts, and other training materials on your topic.
Other Lesson Plans and Toolkits
- Connecting Youth to Quality Health Information: A Lesson Plan for High School Health and Fitness Education - Developed by the Center for Public Health Nutrition at the Unversity of Washington. This is a lesson plan to increase the capacity and capability of high school students to access and evaluate quality health information. This lesson also establishes MedlinePlus as a recognized resource for current and future health information needs.
- Quality Health Information on the Web: A Tool Kit - Another resource from the Center for Public Health Nutrition at the University of Washington. This site will assist you in finding answers to student health questions. You can learn how to identify accurate and reliable health information using MedlinePlus and elsewhere on the internet.
2010 Knowledge Management Workshop
Knowledge Sharing in Hospitals: The Librarian's Role explored how corporate knowledge management concepts can be implemented in a hospital/health system. Multidisciplinary teams consisting of the librarian and another professional from the hospital/healthcare system worked together. Participants crafted a foundational strategy for adoption of an expanded role for librarians in hospital knowledge sharing efforts to support the clinical environment and its provision of high-quality care. The workshop consisted of readings, 2 pre-workshop online sessions, 1 in-person workshop session, and several post-workshop online sessions.Request Training
