Aerial Devices and Elevating Equipment

• Aerial Devices - Vehicle-Mounted Elevating & Rotating Work Platforms. [PDF^* - 167 KB]. Through the OSHA and Altec Alliance, Altec developed "Aerial Devices - Vehicle-Mounted Elevating & Rotating Work Platforms." The pamphlet provides information in English and Spanish to help employers inform their employees about the hazards with working on aerial devices and identifies guidelines for employees to follow. • Aerial Equipment - Electrical Hazards. [PDF^* - 165 KB]. Through the OSHA and Altec Alliance, Altec developed "Aerial Equipment - Electrical Hazards." The pamphlet provides information in English and Spanish to help employers inform their employees about the electrical hazards associated with working on aerial devices and identifies guidelines for employees to follow. • Aerial Lifts [PDF^* - 52 KB]. Through the OSHA and Sealant, Waterproofing and Restoration Institute (SWRInstitute) Alliance, SWRInstitute developed a toolbox talk on aerial lifts. (2012, January)
• Operator Training for Aerial Equipment. [PDF^* - 160 KB]. Through the OSHA and Altec Alliance, Altec developed "Operator Training for Aerial Equipment - General Training Guidance." The pamphlet provides information in English and Spanish to help employers identify the training recommended for employees on the inspection and operation of aerial equipment. • Baggage Tug and Carts Fact Sheet: Preventing Pinch Point, Amputations and Caught In-Between Injuries [PDF^* - 280 KB]. Through the OSHA and Airline Group Alliance, the Airline Group developed a Fact Sheet that identifies potential hazards and provides possible solutions to prevent injuries and aircraft/equipment damage while operating baggage tugs and carts. • Baggage Tugs and Carts Fact Sheet: Preventing Slips, Trips and Falls [PDF^* - 182 KB]. Through the OSHA and Airline Group Alliance, the Airline Group developed a Fact Sheet that provides guidance to prevent potential injuries due to slips, trips and falls while employees mount and dismount baggage tugs and work with baggage carts. Through the OSHA and Airline Group Alliance, the Airline Group developed a Fact Sheet that provides possible solutions to prevent injuries and aircraft/equipment damage while operating baggage tugs and carts. • Baggage Tugs and Carts Fundamentals Reference Guide [PDF^* - 681 KB]. Through the OSHA and Airline Group Alliance, the Airline Group developed this Reference Guide to provide an explanation of the different types of baggage tugs and carts and how they are used. (2011, September)
• Belt Loader Fact Sheet: Preventing Injuries Caused by Falling Objects [PDF^* - 271 KB]. OSHA and the Airline Group Alliance, (2010, November). The Airline Group developed a fact sheet that provides possible solutions for the prevention of injuries and aircraft/equipment damage from falling objects.
• Belt Loader Fact Sheet: Preventing Pinch Point, Amputations and Caught In-Between Injuries [PDF^* - 215 KB]. OSHA and the Airline Group Alliance, (2010, November). The Airline Group developed a fact sheet that provides possible solutions for the prevention of caught in-between and pinch points injuries from belt loaders.
• Belt Loader Fact Sheet: Preventing Slips, Trips and Falls [PDF^* - 410 KB]. Through the OSHA and Airline Group Alliance, the Airline Group developed a Fact Sheet that provides information to help prevent injuries due to potential slips, trips and falls from belt loaders while entering and exiting aircraft bins. • Belt Loaders Toolbox Talk [PDF^* - 89 KB]. OSHA and the Airline Group Alliance, (2009, March). The Airline Group developed a toolbox talk that addresses best practices for the safe operation of belt loaders.
• Distracted Driving by Airline Employees on the Ramp and Airport Roadways Toolbox Talk [PDF^* - 175 KB]. Through the OSHA and Airline Group Alliance, the Airline Group developed a Toolbox Talk that identifies the three main types of distraction and provides suggestions for limiting them. Through the OSHA and American Biological Safety Association (ABSA) Alliance, ABSA developed a fact sheet providing the definition, skills level, knowledge, and experience required for the BSO and BSP. • BioSafety Levels Fact Sheet (US) [PDF^* - 88 KB]. Through the OSHA and American Biological Safety Association (ABSA) Alliance, ABSA developed a document that describes the four levels of biosafety. (2008, April)
• General Microbiology Fact Sheet [PDF^* - 3.5 MB]. Through the OSHA and American Biological Safety Association (ABSA) Alliance, ABSA developed a fact sheet providing laboratory workers with a reference tool for the most common diseases including information on transmission, signs and symptoms, and incubation period as well as a micrograph visual aid. • Principles of Biosafety Fact Sheet [PDF^* - 57 KB]. Through the OSHA and American Biological Safety Association (ABSA) Alliance, ABSA developed a fact sheet providing laboratory workers with safety information through twelve valuable rules of biosafety. (2008, April)
• Principles of Good Microbiological Practice Fact Sheet [PDF^* - 135 KB]. Through the OSHA and American Biological Safety Association (ABSA) Alliance, ABSA developed a fact sheet providing laboratory workers with a reference tool on the proper handling and safety procedures for working with infectious agents or materials. • Select Agent Diseases Fact Sheet [PDF^* - 367 KB]. Through the OSHA and American Biological Safety Association (ABSA) Alliance, ABSA developed a fact sheet providing laboratory workers with a reference tool that includes the symptoms, transmission, and treatment for some of the most commonly encountered pathogens or biological toxins that are federally regulated and have the potential to pose a severe threat to public health and safety. • Zoonotic Diseases Fact Sheet [PDF^* - 478 KB]. Through the OSHA and American Biological Safety Association (ABSA) Alliance, ABSA developed a fact sheet providing laboratory workers with a reference tool that includes the symptoms, transmission, and treatment for some of the most commonly encountered diseases that are generally found in animals but can be spread to humans. • Minimizing Slips, Trips and Falls [PDF^* - 52 KB]. Through the OSHA and ISSA Alliance, ISSA developed "Minimizing Slips, Trips and Falls." The checklist provides information to help minimize slip, trip and fall incidents. (2007, April)
• Preventing Slips, Trips and Falls for Custodians [PDF^* - 54 KB]. Through the OSHA and ISSA Alliance, ISSA developed "Preventing Slips Trips and Falls for Custodians." The article presents a checklist of common causes for slips, trips and falls and practical tips for avoiding these types of workplace incidents. (2007, April)

• CSDA Best Practices for Sawing and Drilling Operations: Hearing Conservation Fact Sheet [PDF^* - 73 KB]. Through the OSHA and Concrete Sawing and Drilling Association (CSDA) Alliance, CSDA developed a fact sheet that addresses best practices for reducing noise-induced hearing loss. (2011, November)
• CSDA Best Practices for Sawing and Drilling Operations: Highway Workzone Safety Checklist. Through the OSHA and Concrete Sawing and Drilling Association (CSDA) Alliance, CSDA developed "CSDA Best Practices for Sawing and Drilling Operations: Highway Workzone Safety Checklist" The Checklist identifies hazards associated with sawing and cutting adjacent to a highway workzone and safe work practices to help reduce or eliminate the risk of injuries or illnesses. • CSDA Best Practices for Sawing and Drilling Operations: Ladder Safety Fact Sheet [PDF^* - 92 KB]. Through the OSHA and Concrete Sawing and Drilling Association (CSDA) Alliance, CSDA developed a Fact Sheet that identifies precautions and guidelines for the safe use of step ladders and straight (extension) ladders in the sawing and drilling industry. Through the Roundtable's Design for Safety Workgroup, a PowerPoint® presentation, "Design for Construction Safety 2-4 Hour Course," was developed. The course is based on the Design for Construction Safety 2-4 Hour Course slide presentation and provides technical information for those that are interested in learning more about Designing for Safety. The presentation, updated with more case studies from June 2008, is also located in the "Design for Construction Safety 2-4 Hour Course Presentation" section on the Design for Construction Safety Web site.

The Safety Tips provide information to help prevent injuries and illnesses while installing anchored earth retention's and micropile's. (2006, July)
• Drilled Shaft Installation Safety Tips For the Employer and Drilled Shaft Installation Safety Tips For the Employee [PDF^* - 62 KB]. Through the OSHA and International Association of Foundation Drilling (ADSC) Alliance, ADSC developed "Drilled Shaft Installation Safety Tips For the Employer and Drilled Shaft Installation Safety Tips For the Employee." The Safety Tips provide information to help prevent injuries and illnesses in the drilled shaft foundation industry. (2006, February)
• Drilled Shaft Installation Safety [PDF^* - 4 MB]. Through the OSHA and International Association of Foundation Drilling (ADSC) Alliance, ADSC developed "Drilled Shaft Installation Safety." The presentation is designed to provide OSHA staff, drilled shaft contractors and their employees, geotechnical engineers and general contractors with information about drilled shaft construction equipment and methods, general safety practices and recommendations on how to maintain a safe worksite. Electrical Safety

• 29 CFR 1910 Electrical Standard Subpart S Fact Sheet [PDF^* - 27 KB]. Through the OSHA and Independent Electrical Contractors (IEC) Alliance, IEC developed a fact sheet to provide the electrical industry with information about the updates OSHA made to CFR 29 1910 Subpart S-Electrical Standard. (2007, September; updated 2011, January)
• 240/120 Volt Single-Phase Electrical - Work Safety Program [PDF^* - 68 KB]. Through the OSHA and Independent Electrical Contractors,Inc. (IEC) Alliance, IEC developed this guidance document to increase awareness of the hazards involved in working on or near energized electrical conductors and circuit parts. This guidance document describes precautions that can be taken to minimize the dangers associated with working on energized/hot electrical power. (2011, June)
• Arc Flash Safety Presentation [PDF^* - 700 KB]. Through the OSHA and Independent Electrical Contractors (IEC) Alliance, IEC developed "Arc Flash Safety Presentation." The Presentation is designed to provide the electrical industry with information about the updates OSHA made to CFR 29 1910 Subpart S-Electrical Standard. It focuses on topics such as hot work and arc flash. (2007, August)
• CSDA Best Practices for Sawing and Drilling Operations: Electrical Safety Fact Sheet [English PDF^* - 78 KB, Spanish PDF^* - 86 KB]. Through the OSHA and Concrete Sawing and Drilling Association (CSDA) Alliance, CSDA developed a Fact Sheet that addresses best practices for working around electrical conductors and equipment. The fact sheet reviews how workers can protect themselves during high voltage work. (2010, February)

• Info Sheet #2: Flammable and Combustible Liquids [English PDF^* - 80 KB, Spanish PDF^* - 326 KB]. Through the OSHA and Society for Chemical Hazard Communication (SCHC) Alliance, SCHC developed "Info Sheet #2: Flammable and Combustible Liquids." The Info Sheet details on how U.S. regulations and consensus standards define flammable and combustible liquids and how the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals harmonizes its flammable liquid criteria. The Info Sheet provides employees with the definition and benefits of the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals. • The Hazard Communication Standard in Health Care: Labeling, MSDS, and Other Aspects of Dealing with Chemicals [PDF^* - 303 KB]. Through the OSHA and The Joint Commission/Joint Commission Resources (JCR) Alliance, JCR developed an article on hazard communication within the health care industry and how the proposed revisions to the OSHA Hazard Communication Standard would impact current practices. • N95 Respiratory Training and Fit Testing Verification Card [PDF^* - 214 KB]. Through the OSHA and Association of Occupational Health Professionals AOHP) Alliance and in conjunction with the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health's, National Personal Protective Technology Lab, AOHP developed a generic "N95 Respiratory Training and Fit Testing Verification Card." The card is a provides employees with a simple way to record the make and model of the respirator on which the employee was fit tested and provides safety tips for donning and doffing respirators. Through the OSHA and The Joint Commission/Joint Commission Resources (JCR) Alliance, JCR developed an article on heat related illnesses, including signs and symptoms of various illnesses and prevention and treatment tactics. • North American Occupational Safety and Health (NAOSH) Week May 6–12, 2012: Job safety stressed; kick-off event May 7 [PDF^* - 223 KB, 2 pages]. • Top 10 OSHA Citations in Health Care - OSHA releases information for October 1, 2010–September 30, 2011 [PDF^* - 211 KB]. Through the OSHA and The Joint Commission/Joint Commission Resources (JCR) Alliance, JCR developed a side bar article highlighting the top ten OSHA citations issued to healthcare facilities in Fiscal Year 2011. The information is based on the percentage of federal OSHA inspections within the health care industry (Standard Industrial Classification Code 80, Health Services) that resulted in specific standard citations. • Underserved Health Care Workers: Lack of Coverage for Frontline Workers Can Compromise Patient Safety [PDF^* - 265 KB]. The purpose of these work practices is to identify potential hazards associated with metal finishing operations and the precautions that should be adopted for the safety and health of all personnel involved in these processes. • Quick Card: Hexavalent Chromium - Automotive Collision Repair Industry. Through the OSHA and Coordinating Committee for Auto Repair (CCAR) Alliance, CCAR developed the "Quick Card: Hexavalent Chromium - Automotive Collision Repair Industry." The Quick Card provides employees in the automotive collision repair industry with precautions that must be taken when refinishing motor vehicle parts. (2009, January)

Waste Haulers

• Safety: Do It For Life. Through the OSHA and Energy Recovery Council (ERC) Alliance, ERC developed "Hauler Safety Campaign, Safety: Do It For Life." The annual campaign educates public and private waste haulers, municipal and private owners and operators, and facility employees about best practices on tipping floor safety. Window Cleaning

• Water-Fed Pole Safety Training Program (also available as a 1 MB PPTX). Through the OSHA and the International Window Cleaning Association (IWCA) Alliance, IWCA developed a safety training program which provides employees in the window cleaning industry with information on safe use of water-fed poles. The program contains practical precautions and instruction to help window cleaners reduce risks at job sites while taking into account the requirements for the job. (2011, September)
• Water-Fed Pole Quick Card (PDF^* - 44 KB). Through the OSHA and the International Window Cleaning Association (IWCA) Alliance, IWCA developed a Quick Card which provides employees in the window cleaning industry with information on safe use of water-fed poles. The document contains practical precautions to help reduce the hazards at job sites for workers in the window cleaning industry and provides a quick reference to safe practices. (2012, June)

• Workplace Violence in Healthcare Quick Tip card [PDF^* - 306 KB]. Through the OSHA and American Association of Occupational Health Nurses Alliance, AAOHN developed "Workplace Violence in Healthcare Quick Tip card." The card provides tips on workplace violence prevention, response, recovery and the role of the supervisor. (2009, Spring)

Through the OSHA and American Association of Occupational Health Nurses Alliance, AAOHN developed "Violence Prevention in Healthcare ID Card."
