On behalf of all of Cannon AFB Exchange associates, we pledge courteous and efficient service to all authorized patrons. We welcome your patronage and endeavor to be a valued benefit to our customers and the military community.

Cannon Air Force Base is the home of the 27th Special Operations Wing, with more than fifty years of history. Cannon's history began in the mid 1920's when Portair Air was established on this site as a civilian passenger terminal for early commercial transcontinental flights.

In 1942, after the United States had entered World War II, the Army Air Corps took control of the civilian airfield and renamed it Clovis Army Air Base. During 1943 and on into the 1950's this base was a training unit for the B-24, B-17 and B-29 Bombers. Several changes occurred at Clovis AFB in the 50's and on 8 June 1947 it was renamed Cannon Air Force Base in honor of the late General John J. Cannon, former Commander of the Tactical Air Command.

Cannon enjoys a good relationship with the neighboring communities of Clovis and Portales which are located within a 16-mile radius of the base. Cannon currently has 1,372 housing units on the base, 200 units in Clovis and 150 units in Portales. Demographics are presently: Active Duty: 2,610, Active Duty Family Members 2,852, Retiree Sponsors 1,392, Retiree Family Members 1,967, Guard and Reserve Sponsors 296, Guard and Reserve Family Members 275; Total Demographics: 9,392.

The Cannon Exchange facilities include a Main Exchange, a Military Clothing Store, and an Express/Car Care Center. We also operate a Burger King, Taco Bell Express, Anthony's Pizza, and the installations Theater.
