Defense
We are all grateful to the members of our Armed Forces who have been sent into harm's way for their bravery and sacrifice. As a nation, we have a duty to support them in every way possible to ensure their well-being and success. Throughout my years in Congress, I have consistently voted for legislation that supports our service members by ensuring that they have the resources they need.
I understand the human toll the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have taken on our troops. I have seen our soldiers off at Willow Grove Naval Air Station, and I have spoken to family members of those brave men and women who have sacrificed their lives for this country. In the past decade, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan claimed the lives of more than 6,000 U.S. military personnel and left many more of our soldiers with permanent physical and mental injuries. In addition, these two wars have cost the Treasury almost $1.3 trillion.
