Effects of Invasives on the Distribution of Keystone Desert Plants on Military Lands - Technical Report, May 2009 (Legacy 08-411) (PDF)

The overall objective of this project is to better understand the impacts of invasive species on key components of ecosystems and pollinator communities, in order to address management concerns for desert plant communities and their associated threatened and endangered species. The study documented emphasized the integration of invasive nonnative plant invasion with other ecological processes through assessments of the spatial effects and fire dynamics of Lehmann lovegrass (Eragrostis lehmanniana) on the distribution and abundance of Palmer's agave (Agave palmeri), investigations of changes in A. palmeri pollinator community composition.

Linking Science and Policy Through an Adaptive Management Approach: The San Pedro River -Technical Report October 2008 (Legacy 06-250) (PDF)

The first ever observation of zero flow in the San Pedro River at the U.S. Geological Survey's Charleston streamflow-gaging station on July 6, 2005 inspired much public and scientific interest in understanding the causes of this event. This paper provides a summary of the issues and contributing factors associated with this hydrologic event. It was developed by the broad membership of the USPP Technical Committee, including hydrologists, engineers, ecologists and other scientists who worked together to reach a common understanding of this complex issue.

Linking Science and Policy Through an Adaptive Management Approach: The San Pedro River - Long Range Five Year Planning Document 2007 - 2011 (Legacy 05-250) (PDF)

This strategic plan is to identify and prioritize projects, policies and programs to meet the Partnership's mission to meet the long-term water needs of the Sierra Vista Sub-watershed by achieving sustainable yield of the regional aquifer by 2011 and beyond to: 1) preserve the San Pedro Riparian National Conservation Area (SPRNCA), and 2) ensure the long-term viability of Fort Huachuca.

A Tool to Assess the Vulnerability of Plant Species to Climate Change - August 2010 (Legacy 09-433) (PDF)

Despite lack of information on plant species response to climate change, some simple predictions can be made regarding plant traits likely to be associated with lesser or greater vulnerability to declines with projected future climate. This document provides a simple scoring system based on a few readily identifiable and predictive plant traits to assess vulnerability of individual plant species to climate change.
