Offices and Departments
The Political and Economic Section of the U.S. Embassy in Maputo is responsible for a broad range of political and economic policy issues in Mozambique. In coordination with other U.S. Government agencies and under the guidance of the U.S. Ambassador to Mozambique, the Political and Economic Section covers the following responsibilities:
- serves as liaison or point of contact with a wide range of economic and political actors in Mozambique;
- promotes U.S. policy by working with Mozambican ministries and agencies, as well as other diplomatic missions assigned to Mozambique;
- promotes U.S. commercial interests in Mozambique
- drafts analytical reports on economic, political and social developments in Mozambique;
- briefs public and private sector entities on a range of political and economic topics.
