Ambassador Kirk traveled to Memphis on Tuesday and Wednesday, October 12 and 13, to meet with workers and small business owners and discuss the potential for economic growth and job creation through the opening of new markets. Ambassador Kirk discussed USTR’s ongoing efforts to create opportunities for Tennesseans through the development of broader trade relationships and the administration’s renewed focus on the enforcement of existing trade agreements. He also focused on the Administration’s goals of expanding American exports to global markets and supporting job creation within the U.S.

While in Memphis, Ambassador Kirk toured the Global Operations Command Center, Flight Simulator Training Center, and Global Hub Center at the FedEx Headquarters complex. On Wednesday, the Ambassador spoke about the President’s National Export Initiative, along with Secretary of Commerce Gary Locke. On Wednesday afternoon, he was joined by Secretary Locke for a roundtable discussion with small- and medium-sized business owners in the area.
