Veteran Service Organizations VSO
Most Veteran Service Organizations are non-profit organizations that rely on public donations to support programs that promote citizenship education and volunteerism and facilitate aid for veterans and their families in need of medical, rehabilitative, educational and employment services. They are committed to improving the lives of veterans and service personnel, their families and their communities.
Some Veteran Service Organizations also provide military funeral honors to our veterans or may assist the military members rendering the honors. A few Department of Veterans Affairs national cemeteries are served by veterans groups that regularly provide funeral honors.
The Authorized Provider Partnership Program (AP3), implemented by the Office of the Secretary of Defense in August 2001, allows Veteran Service Organizations to partner with the services to perform Military Funeral Honors. For more information go to the Authorized Provider Partnership Program (AP3) link.
