Wind Powering America's Communities of Color: Outreach in Oklahoma

Wind Powering America, in association with the Oklahoma Black Farmers and Agriculturists Association, Oklahoma Landowners and Tenants Association, and Langston University, sponsored an outreach effort to rural landowners, local business leaders, and energy consumers in Oklahoma's communities of color. The event explored the market for and benefits of developing and purchasing wind generated power. Particular focus was aimed at creative ownership models, such as forming rural and urban electric cooperatives, in addition to traditional land leases for project development.
