New England District is responsible for managing the Corps' civil works and military program responsibilities in a 66,000-square-mile region encompassing the six New England states east of the Lake Champlain drainage basin.

The District employs about 500 professional civilian employees, with several military officers serving in key management positions. Seventy-five percent of the staff is stationed at the Concord, Mass., headquarters, while the others serve at Corps projets and area offices throughout the region.

RECREATION SPOTLIGHT
Thomaston Dam, Thomaston, Connecticut
Thomaston Dam is located on the Naugatuck River and the park offers over 800 acres of public land for a multitude of recreational activities. Hunting, fishing, trail bike riding (two wheel only) and model airplane flying are among the popular activities.
Buffumville Lake, Charlton, Massachusetts
Buffumville Park is open daily from mid-May through mid-September. The park has a 300-foot-long beach with an enclosed swimming area, a volleyball court, horseshoe pits, and miles of trails.
Hopkinton-Everett Lake, Contoocook, New Hampshire
Hopkinton-Everett Lakes is a multi-use facility that provides many recreational opportunities for visitors to the 10,000 acre project, which includes hunting, fishing, hiking and much more.
North Hartland Lake, Harland/Hartford, Vermont
With more than 1700 acres of land ranging from forests and fields to wetlands and a reservoir, North Hartland Lake has recreation opportunities for everyone.
