Education
One of the primary goals of the United States Navy Band is to help promote and foster both music and general education in the United States. Our goal is to help inspire and foster student growth. The Navy Band’s high level of training and visibility present a unique opportunity for educational outreach. In order to accomplish this goal, the Navy Band’s efforts include, but are not limited to, the following activities:
Educational Resources
Articles and other instructional materials created and maintained by Navy Band musicians.
Music in the Schools
Navy Band ensembles frequently perform and present clinics in schools. Individual musicians are also available for sectionals, workshops, and appearances as guest soloists.
High School Concerto Competition
The High School Concerto Competition is an annual competition for talented high school students. Each year, the winner is given the opportunity to rehearse and perform a solo with the United States Navy Concert Band.
International Saxophone Symposium
The International Saxophone Symposium is the premier annual saxophone conference that offers performances, masterclasses, exhibitors and performance opportunities for young musicians.
In addition to the above programs, the Navy Band frequently invites young musicians to perform with them in concert, both in concert series in the National Capital Region or on national concert tours.
