[Thumbnail]: OHV Sequoia National Forest Seeks Public Comment On Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Grant Application
The Sequoia National Forest and Giant Sequoia National Monument is seeking public comments on a preliminary application to the State of California Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Division (OHMVR) for the 2011/2012 grant cycle. The 30-day public review and comment period for the State's Grants and Cooperative Agreement Program begins March 6, 2012 and ends April 2, 2012. State regulations require annual public participation in this fund allocation process.

The Forest's preliminary application will focus on improvements to and maintenance of off-road vehicle routes, facilities, signage, as well as law enforcement, education and safety, and restoration planning. The preliminary application will be available on the OHMVR Division Website at www.ohv.parks.ca.gov for review beginning March 6. The Division's website will provide detailed instructions for accessing the preliminary application and submitting comments.

Firewood Permits
Firewood permits are available at all Forest Service offices. The public can purchase an 8-month firewood permit that can be used depending on weather conditions beginning April 1-November 30, 2010. Stop by any office for current updates, a forest map, instructions about woodcutting areas, and forest policies. The cost of the permit is non-refundable.
