The Work We Do
As part of the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division (NAWCWD), Point Mugu is dedicated to providing cost-wise readiness and dominant maritime combat solutions to make the great Navy and Marine Corps teams even better. We’re home to the Navy’s operational test organization, working to provide efficient deployment of new weapon systems through a unique combination of co-located laboratories, ranges and weapons test squadrons. Our state-of-the-art laboratories provide unique capabilities for your career – in threat analysis, design evaluation and the ability to test battle force in a network-centric environment.

As the recognized expert in Electronic Warfare (EW) for the Naval Aviation Enterprise team, we support the fleet EW community from concept development to year-round EW intelligence operational support. We also support fleet training and tactics development, particularly large scale, major exercises, including fleet battle experiences on our Pacific Sea Range.

We’re experts in sea range operations, mono- and bi-static radar cross-section measurement; surface and air target operations and test and evaluation engineering. We support fleet training in live-fire weapons launched from aircraft, ships and submarines. We provide integration of weapons, electronic warfare systems and avionics onto tactical aircraft. From integration of weapons to design and developmental testing, trainer/support equipment upgrades to operator/maintainer handbooks, mission planning to fleet support and more, we have in-house expertise to provide real-time EW reach-back support for U.S. Navy airborne tactical forces during wartime and peacetime operations. Our current emphasis is on network-centric warfare; the concept of weapon/platform integration is being extended to battle space integration.

Living & Working in Point Mugu
Located in Ventura County, California, Point Mugu is bordered by the Pacific Ocean and some of the most bountiful agricultural land in Southern California. Close to coastal communities like Santa Monica and Santa Barbara, you’ll have access to some of the nation’s most beautiful land and communities. Fifty miles west of Los Angeles, you’ll have big city amenities and outdoor fun at the same time. Watch seals lounge in the sun, or observe dolphins and whales. On a clear day, you can even see the Channel Islands from the mainland.

Coastal communities like Ventura, Oxnard and Port Hueneme are just outside the Point Mugu gates. There are plenty of shopping and living amenities in the area, three community colleges and more. Tennis, soccer, swimming, picnics and golf are just a few of the activities you’ll have easy access to in this picturesque location. Miles of jogging and bike paths, beautiful clean beaches, freshwater lakes and mountains are all nearby. On-base activities include intramural sports, gym and fitness center, swimming pools, golf course and club house, bowling center, auto hobby shop and youth and children’s programs.
