Real Property Utilization and Disposal

GSA's New England Region Real Property Utilization and Disposal Division ensures the proper utilization and disposal of excess federally-owned real estate. The three branches support a broad range of responsibilities across Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, Vermont, U.S. Virgin Islands and Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin.

Boston Operations Division: Manages all aspects of disposal and utilization including the transfer of excess property and conveyance of surplus property. Provides technical advice and develops marketing plans for federal agencies, local government representatives and the general public in the New England, Northeast and Caribbean and Great Lakes Regions.

Special Operations Branch: Provides expert assistance and advice on complex disposal issues to Congress, military departments, other general agencies, state, and local governments and the private sector. It is responsible for the disposition of significant properties on behalf of GSA's major clients.

Chicago Operations Branch: Mirrors the duties of the Boston Operations Division, with a focus on projects within GSA's Great Lakes Region.

The New England Region also works with the United States Coast Guard, National Park Service and Department of Interior to find new stewards for historic lighthouses conveyed under the National Historic Lighthouse Preservation Act. The region supports NHLPA in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, Vermont, U.S. Virgin Islands and Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin.
