Annual Energy Review 2011 Release: September 27, 20121. Energy Consumption, Expenditures, and Emissions Indicators Estimates (Table 1.5) has been modified to include columns for Gross Output and Energy Expenditures as Share of Gross Output and remove Greenhouse Gas Emissions per Real Dollar of Gross Domestic Product. 2. Sales of Fossil Fuels Produced on Federal and American Indian Lands (Table 1.14) was previously titled "Fossil Fuel Production on Federally Administered Lands." It has been redesigned and now provides data on sales of fossil fuels from Federal and American Indian lands for fiscal years 2003 through 2011. 3. Non-Combustion Use of Fossil Fuels (Table 1.15) was previously titled "Fossil Fuel Consumption for Nonfuel Use Estimates." 4. Industrial Sector Energy Consumption Estimates (Table 2.1d), Renewable Energy Consumption: Industrial and Transportation Sectors (Table 10.2b), Electricity Net Generation: Commercial and Industrial Sectors, (Table 8.2d), and Consumption for Electricity Generation by Energy Source: Commercial and Industrial Sectors (Table 8.4c) have been modified to include industrial wind consumption. 5. Household Energy Consumption and Expenditures by End Use and Energy Source (Table 2.5) has been modified to remove columns showing total consumption and expenditures by energy source. 6. Motor Vehicle Mileage, Fuel Consumption, and Fuel Economy (Table 2.8) has been modified to incorporate the Federal Highway Administration's revised vehicle classifications. Data are now provided for Light-Duty Vehicles, Short Wheelbase; Light-Duty Vehicles, Long Wheelbase; and Heavy-Duty Trucks. 7. Information related to the major U.S. energy companies' activities (previously Tables 3.10-3.13 and 4.10) has been removed. EIA is currently considering revisions to its Financial Reporting System database. 8. Crude Oil and Natural Gas Cumulative Production, and Proved Reserves (Table 4.2) has been modified to remove columns on estimated ultimate recovery. 9. Uranium Reserves (Table 4.10) has been modified to remove data on potential resources. 10. Petroleum and Other Liquids Overview (Table 5.1a), Petroleum Overview (Table 5.1b), and Crude Oil Production and Crude Oil Well Productivity (Table 5.2) have been modified to incorporate revisions to crude oil production, total field production, and adjustments in coordination with the Petroleum Supply Monthly (PSM). For more details on the new revision policy, see Appendix B of the PSM at http://www.eia.gov/petroleum/supply/monthly/. 11. Crude Oil Production and Crude Oil Well Productivity (Table 5.2) has been modified to include data on Federal and State offshore crude oil production. 12. Annual Energy Review 2002 Release: October 24, 2003
Table 1.3, "Energy Consumption by Source, 1949-2002" and Table 2.1f "Electric Power Sector Energy Consumption, 1949-2002" have been modified by combining electricity net imports derived from fossil fuels and renewable sources into one category with their sources unspecified. EIA previously estimated the proportions of traded electricity from fossil fuels and hydropower (and applied the fossil-fuel steam-electric-plant heat rate to convert from kilowatthours to Btu) and from geothermal (and applied the heat rate for geothermal energy plants). EIA no longer has adequate data to estimate the proportions by source and is now applying an overall rate of 3,412 Btu per kilowatthour to all traded electricity. Table 1.5, "Energy Consumption, Expenditures, and Emissions Indicators, 1949- 2002" has been modified by the addition of emissions indicators. Table 10.2b "Renewable Energy Consumption: Electric Power Sector and Total, 1949-2002" has been modified by taking electricity net imports that are derived from hydroelectric power and geothermal energy out of the renewable energy consumption total. Those quantities continue to be included in total U.S. energy consumption as components of electricity net imports, with fuel sources unspecified. The change results in a 0.0-to-0.5 quadrillion Btu drop in total renewable energy consumption from 1949 forward. These tables have been added this year: Table 8.3a, "Consumption of Combustible Fuels for Electricity Generation and Useful Thermal Output at Electricity-Only and Combined-Heat-and-Power Plants: Total (All Sectors), 1989-2002." Table 12.7, "Emissions From Energy Consumption for Electricity and Useful Thermal Output at Electricity-Only and Combined-Heat-and-Power Plants, 1989-2001." These AER 2001 tables are reordered in the AER 2002:
