Overview
Whether newly elected or appointed, as a parole board member, you uniquely influence the political climate and inmate outcomes of your criminal justice system. It is vital to understand the nuances of your position and how your role affects key stakeholders throughout the state and the nation. This training program helps participants build competencies and skills in performing the tasks that matter most.
The course supplements independent field assignments with face-to-face classroom instruction and online training using WebEx technology. Its curriculum emphasizes evidence-based principles and practices, competency building, and improving decision making skills for interviewing, releasing, and working with returning offenders.
Audience
Parole board members with at least 6 months to 5 years of experience on a parole board are encouraged to apply.
