Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC)

Army ROTC (Reserve Officers' Training Corps) is a college elective that allows you to earn a commission straight out of college as a second lieutenant in the Army National Guard. In just a few hours per week, ROTC teaches leadership and teamwork through both academic classes and hands-on, physical training that will help you succeed in college and beyond. Learn more about ROTC.

For prior service enlisted Soldiers, ROTC may be the best way to take full advantage of your military education benefits. Use your federal and/or state Tuition Assistance, and your GI Bill benefits, to pay for school while you earn your degree and your commission. See how ROTC works for enlisted Soldiers.

ROTC also provides a way to help hold down the cost of college. Two-, three- and four-year scholarships are available, as well as monthly allowances for some cadets. Find out about ROTC scholarships.

Get even more out of your ROTC experience with the SMP program. Combine ROTC with Guard service and earn drill pay on top of your ROTC allowance. Learn about the SMP program.
