Getting Started in the Brewing Industry

The steps below represent the main processes for the completion, submission, and approval of a brewer’s notice to conduct operations in the beer industry. Click each graphic for a more detailed explanation of each step. You may also use the navigation links at left to view Brewery Startup content.

Identify the type of beer operation you want to start:

The application process begins once you decide what type of brewing activity you wish to perform.  Read more.

Complete the qualification process:

After determining what specific operation you’re planning to begin, you must complete the prescribed qualification process.  This includes the submission of forms that will provide TTB with all the needed information to consider your application. Read more.

Submission and the screening/investigative process:

Submit your application package to TTB. Upon receipt of your application materials, TTB will arrange for screening/investigation to confirm that you are legally eligible and qualified to conduct brewing operations.  Once this research is completed, you will be authorized to proceed with your business/activity.
