NHTSA’s Office of EMS is dedicated to promoting a sufficient, stable, and well-trained EMS workforce, as well as enhancing the health and safety of all EMS providers. To this end, OEMS supports workforce research and develops resources designed specifically for EMS providers.
EMS Education for the Future: A Systems Approach
The following are official U.S. Department of Transportation (US DOT) National Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Education Standards (with related Instructional Guidelines) and National Standard Curricula (NSC). Prior to using the Education Standards or Curricula, you should contact your State EMS Office to see what versions are currently adopted and used in your State.
