Welcome to ATF’s Boston Field Division. Our division is responsible for ATF criminal enforcement and industry regulatory operations throughout the six New England states. Our dedicated work force is comprised of special agents, industry operations investigators, auditors, technicians, and support staff.
ATF is committed to reducing violent crime in our neighborhoods. We accomplish this by focusing our investigative efforts on armed violent offenders, career criminals, gun traffickers and gangs. We work with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies and increase our effectiveness through these partnerships.
Explosives and arson enforcement is an integral part of ATF’s overall violent crime reduction strategy. The Boston Field Division is very proactive in this area. We conduct independent investigations and assist local and state fire and police investigators across New England. We also offer some of the finest training available on investigations pertaining to arson and bombings.
The Boston Field Division is home to the highest concentration of major firearms manufacturers in the nation. Because of this our industry operations investigators have a unique knowledge of the manufacturing process and the regulations that govern this industry. They work to ensure that all firearms and explosives are stored, handled, and sold in a safe manner according to the law.

Springfield Man Sentenced to 166 Months for Arson of African–American Church

BOSTON — A Springfield man was sentenced to nearly 14 years in federal prison today stemming from his role in the arson of the Macedonia Church of God in Christ, a predominantly African–American church, just hours after the election of President Barack Obama. Michael Jacques, 27, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Michael A. Ponsor to 166 months in prison, to be followed by four years of supervised release. Jacques was also ordered to pay nearly $1.6 million in restitution, including $123,570 to the Macedonia Church of God in Christ.More »

Drug Trafficker Sentenced to 15 Years in Federal Prison

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — A Warwick, R.I., man convicted in federal court in February 2011 of trafficking cocaine, crack cocaine and heroin; and possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking was sentenced Friday to 181 months in federal prison. Jury Finds Milford Man Guilty of Making Grenades, Selling Guns Intended for White Supremacist Group

Fein, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, today announced that a federal jury in Bridgeport has found Alexander DeFelice, 33, of Milford, guilty of conspiracy and firearms offenses stemming from an alleged attempt to sell firearms and explosive grenades to what he thought was a white supremacist group located outside of Connecticut. The jury found DeFelice’s co-defendants Kenneth Zrallack, 29, of Ansonia, and David Sutton, 46, of Milford, not guilty of conspiring with DeFelice and others in the same conspiracy. The Office of the United States Attorney for the District of Vermont stated that Richard Memoli, 53, of Colchester, Vermont, has been sentenced to 30 months imprisonment for possessing a stolen handgun and distribution of crack cocaine.
