The Medical Group 

The 161st medical Air Refueling Wing strives to achieve both peacetime and wartime missions through organizing squadron operation so that wing "readiness" activities are supported as well as maintaining squadron "readiness."

Peacetime mission statement:
To monitor the physical health and fitness of all unit members, assuring the highest degree of worldwide duty capability of the 161st Air Refueling Wing.

To monitor the workplace, ensuring occupational standards are met, and that toxic materials and waste disposal practices meet federal, state and local standards.

To train and sustain medical personnel in specialty training, required ancillary training and combat and disaster medical training, to mirror Air Force medical operations in the event of mobilization or a natural disaster or civil unrest.

Wartime mission statement:
To provide medical support for the aircrews and other support personnel of the 161st Air Refueling Wing.

To provide trained personnel in support of wartime taskings, during mobility operations.

The mission of the maintenance group of the 161st air refueling wing is to provide safe, readily deployable manpower, equipment and aircraft in support of homeland defense and all worldwide contingencies.

tabPublic Affairs
Public Affairs is the focal point for providing information on 161st Air Refueling Wing issues, programs and base events to airmen, the community and members of the news media. The 161st ARW Public Affairs office can provide base tours and speakers for civic organizations in the community. The office also publishes the unit newspaper, "The Copperhead," and is the commander's liaison between the base and local media organizations. All media requests concerning 161st ARW personnel, programs and events must be coordinated through Public Affairs.
