About the Summit

The 4th Biennial United States-China Consumer Product Safety Summit between the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection, and Quarantine of the People’s Republic of China (AQSIQ) will be held in Washington, D.C. , on October 13-14, 2011. Under the leadership of Chairman Inez Tenenbaum, the Summit agenda will be organized around activities undertaken since the last Summit was held in China in October 2009.

In addition to policy discussions, the Summit agenda will include discussions of product-specific safety issues in particular areas such as children’s products, all-terrain vehicles (ATV’s), cigarette lighters, fireworks, heavy metals in paint and component parts, clothing, and toys. Other initiatives, such as cluster training for manufacturers, international tracking labels, and standards alignment may also be discussed.

Stakeholder Participation

CPSC and AQSIQ welcome stakeholder participation at the 4th Biennial United States-China Consumer Product Safety Summit. Stakeholders provide valuable insight into important product safety issues and help to ensure that regulators consider multiple viewpoints. Information is provided below on how stakeholders may express interest in participation at the Summit. Stakeholders attending the Summit will hear from key U.S. and Chinese product safety officials, industry leaders, and consumer representatives and will have opportunities to interact with them and with one another during Summit events. The Summit schedule will include both open public sessions and government-only meetings. The Summit will be held at the U.S. Department of State’s George C. Marshall Conference Center. Pre-registration is required and subject to space availability.

You must register to attend the meeting.

A coat/bag check room is available at the Marshall Center
