LETTER FROM THE MANAGER

General Manager
Japan

The Kadena Base Exchange and the Camp Foster Post Exchange are two of the largest main stores worldwide. The Okinawa Exchange also offers one of the biggest and best furniture stores in the Exchange. Located at Camp Foster, the store has recliners, beds, dining room sets, carpets, sofas, lamps and plenty more.

Want more? Try out the many opportunities brought to you compliments of the Okinawa Exchange Services branch; eye exams, contact lens fittings and ordering, computer repair, advance photo processing at several one-hour photo locations, LP gas for your BBQ grills and diesel fuel are just some of the many services and products available. Service activities also include barber and beauty shops, one optometry clinic, flower shops, laundry/dry cleaners, alteration shops, Exchange New Car Sales locations, taxi services, car wash locations, assorted Asian Pacific gift and furniture shops, GNC health stores, concession food and coffee shops, cell phone stores, and day spas.

With all the traveling that can be done visiting the various exchange operations, it's no wonder that many people choose to have their car care needs taken care of at the car care center on Foster. This activity is the only Exchange Government of Japan certified garage handling both minor and major repairs as well as provides GOJ inspection and registration service.

The concessions of the Okinawa Consolidated Exchange is among the best in the world and offers the entire family a wide variety of beverage and snack products along with amusements and other services. Car washes, stamp machines, prepaid telephone calling card vending machines, pay telephones and coin-operated laundries are among the many services and products you can find here. The biggest and favorite amusement centers are located at the Kadena and Foster Services Mall. Shoppers on the island can also go to several places for their laundry needs. Coin-operated laundry facilities are available at Kadena and Torii Station, Camp Courtney, Camp Hansen, Camp Foster, and Camp Schwab. Kadena, while being the most popular because of its central location, offers 24-hour convenience.

Food operations are also plentiful on the island as the Okinawa Consolidated Exchange boasts one of the busiest in the Exchange. Something for just about every taste is available; from the top sales leaders in the world, Burger King, Subway, Popeyes, Taco Bell, Baskin Robbins, to the delicate flavors of the Orient at Manchu Wok. The Exchange also administers the school lunch program in 12 DODDs schools serving approximately 8,600 meals daily during the lunch period.

One of the other reasons our customers like it here is because many choose to join the Exchange family, from the fast-paced food facilities to customer service positions in one of our many retail stores. The Human Resources Office is located on Camp Foster, Bldg. 490, if you need assistance. For employment, you will need your social security card, passport and ID card; your name on all three documents must match. If you are a family member, please bring a copy of your sponsor's orders.

Finding out what's new at the Okinawa Consolidated Exchange couldn't be easier, thanks to the addition of a Base Exchange section within the Kadena Air Base Home Page at www.kadena.af.mil. Just follow the Base Exchange link on the What's Happening page for the latest information on movie schedules, facility hours, home delivery and even school lunch menus.

Why shop the Exchange? We save you money everyday! A recent independent Market Basket survey shows that, on average, you'll save 24% shopping at your local exchange. If we do not have what you are looking for at the sore, try our catalog offerings or www.shopmyexchange.com for our online shopping opportunities. You'll find everything you need there! And don't forget, you do not pay tax at the Exchange.

Part of the Exchange mission is to provide a dividend for the MWR programs of the Army and the Air Force, and here on Okinawa, marines and sailors as well. Those dividends really get a boost each time a customer makes a purchase with the Military Star Card. Although the Star Card has a minimal fee (while the Exchange pays substantial fees to accept Visa, Master Card, Discover, and American Express), the dividends from those purchases go right back to the exchange. In addition to an attractive interest rate and free shipping for orders from the Military Exchange Mail Order Catalog, the Star Card also has a 6% deployment policy.

Cordless Devices

We would like to remind our Japan and Okinawa patrons that electronic devices such as telephones, baby monitors, walkie-talkies and other devices that operate in the 900mhz frequency range may interfere with other Japanese transmissions, to include emergency and cell phone signals and are not authorized for use in Japan or Okinawa. You can find compliant devices at your Exchange.

Here on Okinawa, the Exchange family appreciates your patronage and we consider our service members and their families to be the best customers in the world! We are focused on improving our services and your satisfaction and welcome your comments. I look forward to hearing from you soon!
