Reading Council winners announced

Camp Lejeune students among the winners!

The Onslow-Lejeune Reading Council hosted its annual Young Author Project.

Onslow-Lejeune Reading Council winners:

Kindergarten: Abel Espinosa and Trinity Morton, both of Swansboro Elementary; Gunnar Zurek of Heroes Elementary.

First grade: Braden Christian, Landon Evans and Jason Peshoff, all of Johnson Primary; Rebecca Craft, Grace Gillen and Libby Walzer, all of Heroes Elementary.

Second grade: Nathanael Barksdale, Garrett Brodfuehrer, Leila Kidder, Jenna Forrester and Camilla Sablan, all of Heroes Elementary; Joey Fantini and Anaiya Fredrick, both of Morton Elementary; Savannah Mengistu and Andrew Zonneveld, both of Tarawa Terrace Elementary.

Third grade: Meghan Draper, Ayiana Harper and Yasmine Young, all of Blue Creek Elementary; Reilly Lockwood and Valerie Vargas, both of Delalio Elementary.

Fourth grade: Christian Duncan of Hunters Creek Elementary.

Fifth grade: Kaylin Holiday, McKenzie Joyce and Katia McCuen, all of Bitz Intermediate.

Seventh grade: Madison Barbee, Annessa Neilsen and Paige Shepard, all of Southwest Middle.

Tenth grade: Katherine Whitfield of Swansboro High.
