Materials Characterization

Collaborations

The NMCD collaborates with different national labs and universities.  Staff members from the NMCD are occasionally loaned to other departments to assist with specific projects such as Reduced Enrichment for Research and Test Reactors (RERTR).  They also participate in a personnel exchange program with the Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA) and sometimes provide assistance for International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) training workshops.

NMCD Researchers CollaboratingInternships and University Partnerships
The NMCD provides opportunities for undergraduate students through the INL summer intern program and full- or part-time research opportunities for graduate students.

Summer internships last 10 to 16 weeks, and allow students to gain experience in a laboratory environment under the supervision of an experienced mentor. Graduate research opportunities provide students and universities access to an extensive range of sophisticated analytical equipment and specialized laboratory space.
