Introduction
The dataserver complements the ADDS web site by
providing flexible and queryable access to real-time METAR, PIREP, AIREP, TAF and AIRSIGMET data.
This service is oriented towards automated parsing and is an
an ideal mechanism for users needing more flexible access to raw data
than is available through the web pages.
Data products
See each data source below for examples. Most of these examples show a sample of XML data results in your browser, so please note that different browsers handle XML differently. Internet Explorer and Mozilla/Firefox render it by default, whereas Safari, Konqueror, Opera and others do not. Mozilla and Firefox can take a significant amount of time to render large XML documents.
Please see the Best Practices and Summary of Constraints
sections.
Current Data Files
To prevent excessive load on the server, most data sources restrict the maximum number of results returned. To facilitate users who want the "current" data in its
entirety for these data sources, files in the various output formats are occasionally generated with the complete set of results. For a
full description see the Current Data Files page.
