Through the Service Area Competition (SAC), HRSA will award approximately $346,000,000 in funding to an estimated 220 SAC applicants. A SAC application is a request for Federal financial assistance to support comprehensive primary health care services for a competitively announced underserved area or population. All available service areas (see below) are currently served by Health Center Program grantees whose project periods are ending in FY 2013.
Searchable Service Area Announcement Table | Printable Service Area Announcement Table (PDF - 1 MB)
Available service areas can be viewed either as a searchable table (a customized list based on selected search criteria) or a printable table (organized by project period start date).
Both versions of the Service Area Announcement Table provide the following information: project period start date, current grantee’s administrative site location, state, target populations, HRSA announcement number, application deadlines (Grants.gov and EHB), total funding, funding for each population type, service area zip codes, number of patients served in 2011, and a link to the patient origin map. The service area zip codes provided in the table represent the geographic service area as identified by the current grantee. The map provides additional information regarding patient origin of the currently funded service area (i.e., the number and percentage of the current grantee’s patients that come from each zip code tabulation area based on 2011 UDS data).
For the Searchable Service Area Announcement Table, use the drop-down lists to select a state, city, and/or project period start date for a customized list of available service areas. Only the states and cities with available service areas in FY 2013 are included in the drop-down lists.
Applicants must be public or nonprofit private entities, such as tribal, faith-based, or community-based organizations, that propose to serve a service area and its associated population(s) identified in the Service Area Announcement Table. Eligible applicants include:
