New Orleans Man Sentenced to Ten Years After Pleading Guilty to Being a Felon In Possession of a Firearm
NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA – LONNIE INGRAM, 29, a resident of New Orleans, was sentenced to ten (10) years imprisonment and three years of supervised release by U.S. District Judge Carl J. Barbier after pleading guilty to one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.
According to court records, on or about December 26, 2007, LONNIE INGRAM, a/k/a Rilla
, having previously been convicted of a crime punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year, was a patron at Club Fabulous, a nightclub on Claiborne Avenue at the time. Ingram was involved in a verbal dispute with another patron at the club. INGRAM pointed the gun at the patron’s head and pulled the trigger of the firearm; however, the gun failed to discharge. As the intended victim moved away from the line of fire, INGRAM pulled the trigger again and shot an innocent bystander in the chest. That victim was rushed to University Hospital where he was treated for his gunshot wound. After eventually being arrested by New Orleans Police officers, INGRAM made numerous calls from jail to his associates attempting to have them find the victim to force him to sign an affidavit stating that INGRAM did not shoot him.
The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. This case was prosecuted by Andre’ Jones.
