Energy-Management Activities

Manufacturers may conduct a number of energy-management activities to improve the efficiency of energy use. In the metalcasting industry, the top four reported activities in 1998 included the purchase of electricity under special rate schedules (e.g., time-of-use rates), energy audits, electricity load control, and compressed air systems. Overall, almost two-thirds of all foundries reported in engaging in at least one energy-management activity. [MECS 1998]
