Week 5 outlook
Friday
Japan
Zama American at Robert D. Edgren, 7 p.m.-Johnell Alexander, Eagles quite hungry after heartbreaking 1-point home loss last Saturday. Michael Spencer must step up again with the injury to Trojans QB Emmanuel Sloan.
Eagles 20, Trojans 6.
American School In Japan at Yokota, 7 p.m.-One of two things can happen to Yokota in the wake of its loss at Kubasaki; bewilderment or lighting a fire under it. Im sure its the latter. Air ASIJ should get its toughest test yet with its new A-11 offense.
Panthers 18, Mustangs 11.
Guam
Father Duenas Memorial vs. Guam High at Blue Jacket Field, Naval Station Big Navy, 7 p.m.-Michael Moser, Brian Sanders, Ricco Brunner, Myron Marshall and the Panthers do hang in game after game, but it will take a lot to rein in Will Williams and the Friars.
Friars 22, Panthers 8.
Okinawa
Kadena at Kubasaki, 7 p.m.-Dragons got a huge boost by beating Yokota. But this group of Panthers, Kubasaki hasnt beaten since the 2005 season. Kadena is the champion until somebody knocks em off.
Panthers 19, Dragons 12.
Saturday
South Korea
Seoul American vs. Daegu American at Kelly Field, Camp Walker, 6 p.m.-Another speed vs. size dual. Joe McLean is proving once again to be the prototypical irresistible force on Koreas gridirons; whoever wins the DODDS-Japan Football League rights to host the Class AA semifinals will have their hands full.
Falcons 24, Warriors 6.
Guam
Simon Sanchez at Southern, 3 p.m.-This looks like a one-sided battle until you look at Mario Martinezs stats from last Friday. Then again, that was against John F. Kennedy; the Sharks are a whole different breed this season.
Sharks 20, Dolphins 7.
John F. Kennedy at George Washington, 7 p.m.-The islands oldest and most storied rivalry sees Ted Nelson and the host Geckos (2-2) get better and extend the Islanders winless miseries.
Geckos 23, Islanders 9.
