Jim Wilson of County Cork, Ireland has a Schools Godwit Project involving young people in Ireland, England and Iceland who are studying color-banded Black-tailed Godwits (Limosa limosa) , a species that is a rare migrant and vagrant to Alaska and the American Northern Atlantic Coast. The link below is perfect for any North or South American shorebird school classes that would be interested in pen-paling with counterparts in Europe. The site has great pictures and videos of godwits, their habitats, the process of trapping and color-banding birds, and enthusiastic shorebird classes in the field and at school.
