Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge
Northeast Region

Alternative Transportation

The refuge and it's partners have concluded and Alternative Transportation Study that was conducted by Volpe National Transportation Systems Center. The purpose of the study was to gather information, identify transportation issues, and develop and analyze possible alternatives. This study resulted in an unbiased, well-rounded, and well thought out set of alternatives. The study's alternatives will provide suggestions for improving traffic flow from private cars to commercial buses as well as bicycle and pedestrian traffic. Based upon public imput as well as experience and expertise, the study's alternatives will drive the Refuge's future decisions as it works through the development of its Comprehensive Conservation Plan.
