Injured Wyoming combat veteran receives retirement honors
Staff Sgt. Travis Wood, of Cedar City, Utah, retired from the Wyoming Army National Guard recently, following a medical discharge due to injuries sustained while deployed to Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, in 2006.

Torrington Guard unit receives new commander

South Carolina Army National Guard soldiers observe 9/11 with storied flag
As the sun rose here on Sept. 11, about a dozen Soldiers of C Company, 4th Battalion, 118th Infantry Regiment gathered at the battalion's flagpole to raise their state's flag to half-mast, remember those killed in the 9/11 attacks, honor those who’ve fallen since and support those who continue to fight terrorism.

Purdue University Program to better equip North Dakota's military children following a parent's deployment
The North Dakota National Guard's Child & Youth Program is partnering with the Military Family Research Institute at Purdue University to bring a new curriculum to military children in the state. Titled "Passport Toward Success," the program will first be used during the initial Yellow Ribbon Reintegration event for soldiers and families from the 188th Engineer Company (Vertical), who returned home last month from a yearlong mission to Kuwait.
