Stepping Stones is a residential drug and alcohol treatment program offering services for pregnant women and women with children.

For over 30 years, Stepping Stones has been assisting women, their families, and their children to start their journey of recovery. Steps uses evidence based therapies that are specific to meeting the needs of women and children to promote the best recovery outcomes. The program is unique in Alaska in that women are permitted to bring their children into the treatment facility where they live as a family in a two-bedroom apartment while attending treatment. The children are cared for in an on-site day care while the school age children attend a local school and participate in after school activities – sometimes off-site and sometimes on-site – until their mothers have completed their treatment day.

Stepping Stones provides successive levels of residential care from Primary Phase to Extended Phase services. Average length of stay at Steps is one year, although the program asks for a minimum commitment of six months. Stepping Stones is designated as an III ASAM scale program; so long term treatment is indicated.
