For the Executive Branch
The Presidential Transition Acts of 1963 and 2000 give the General Services Administration (GSA) a prominent role in this process. They authorize the Administrator of GSA to provide the President-elect and the Vice-President-elect the services and facilities needed to assume their official duties.
The Pre-Election Presidential Transition Act of 2010 amends the Presidential Transition Act of 1963 to provide that certain transition services shall be available to eligible candidates before the general election. This act requires GSA to assist Presidential candidates before the election by providing office space and other support. GSA’s Presidential Transition Team is prepared to meet its responsibilities.
