APEX
The "APEX" program (required senior orientation for Senior Executive Service members) is essentially the civilian counterpart to the militarys "CAPSTONE" program for general/flag officers and is targeted to the Departments senior civilians and senior political appointees. Defense Management Review Decision 974 dated Dec. 15  1992 established APEX course development and implementation. The objective of the APEX orientation course is to improve the newly appointed executives effectiveness on the job through enhanced leadership and decision making strategies  an increased understanding of the Departments structure and processes critical to its operation  the integration of DoD and Component priorities  and by fostering a sense of jointness.
Defense Leadership and Management Program (DLAMP)
DLAMP is a Department-wide program for growing future DoD civilian leaders through "joint" civilian training  education and development. DLAMP serves as the framework for achieving the objective of the Commission on Roles and Missions of the Armed Forces to ensure a DoD civilian leadership community capable of leading in a "joint" environment. It nurtures a shared understanding and sense of mission between civilian and military leaders.
Executive Leadership Development Program (ELDP)
The Executive Leadership Development Programs purpose is to improve the quality of civilian members of the Department by developing them  through hands-on training  in support of the warfighters and the Combatant Commanders.

Stennis Center for Public Service
The Stennis Center for Public Service is a federal  legislative branch agency created by Congress in 1988 to promote and strengthen public service leadership in America. The Stennis Center is headquartered in Starkville  Mississippi  adjacent to Mississippi State University. Programs of the Stennis Center are funded through an endowment plus private contributions from foundations and corporations.
